Each week a soil series from Minnesota is identified in the soil monolith display outside room 243 Borlaug. This soil becomes the Soil of the Week. You will be responsible for information about each soil for recitation and lecture exams. Information required includes: a) soil forming factors, b) location in state, c) soil horizon nomenclature, d) soil taxonomy (order and suborder), and e) general use potential for urban, agricultural, forestry or recreation uses.
Below are the 10 soils being used for the soil of the week. A description of the soil, soil profile and location in Minnesota are provided.
